In the vast digital world where cultures and beliefs collide, Pārvatī has increasingly become the subject of subtle but persistent online negativity. While her importance in traditions is immense, the disdain directed at her on the internet remains oddly invisible to many — and even when it's visible, it’s rarely addressed. Unlike the overt backlash some public figures or even other deities might receive, the hate toward Pārvatī is often masked in memes, passive-aggressive commentary, or casual reinterpretations. She's reduced to unfair caricatures: the “Dead of Yajña,” the “Incomplete Portion,” or worse, as someone “unworthy” of Śāktism.— a disturbing narrative that surfaces regularly in online spaces. Yet what makes this trend more troubling is the collective silence around it. Many avoid addressing this disdain altogether. Whether out of discomfort, lack of awareness, or fear of backlash, discussions on the targeted mockery of Pārvatī are rare — even in circles that are quick to defend other deities.
In today’s hyperconnected world, the digital space has become a battleground of ideas, beliefs, and unfortunately, casual disrespect. Among the many figures, Pārvatī, one of the most venerated and complex goddesses in the tradition, is often the subject of quiet disdain, mockery, or comparison — and yet, few openly acknowledge it. I’ll present some examples of it to address it.
A telling example is a statement increasingly seen or heard online:
At first glance, it might appear as an expression of devotion to Viṣṇupriyā. But a deeper look reveals that it comes at the expense of Pārvatī, reducing her status and portraying her as somehow lesser or undeserving. This isn’t reverence — it's comparative disrespect disguised as devotion. And protrasting before someone else doesn’t make her less divine, less sacred. She is the one who devours Devas and Asuras (कपालहस्ता विकटा भक्षयन्ती सुरासुरान् ~Skanda Purāṇa 5.3.15.11)
The internet doesn’t need more loud voices mocking sacred traditions under the guise of “expression.” She is increasingly subjected to mockery, mischaracterization, and even verbal abuse — much of it passed off as harmless banter or passionate devotion to other deities.
And yet, this kind of hate goes largely unaddressed. Devotees, scholars, and influencers alike often remain silent when such language is used, especially when it’s framed as loyalty to other deities like Viṣṇupriyā in this case. But true Bhakti doesn’t require insulting one goddess to praise another.
We must do better — as devotees, as thinkers, and as a society. It's time to stop tolerating this subtle (and sometimes not-so-subtle) abuse toward Pārvatī. To love one Devi does not mean we must hate another. True reverence requires understanding, not mockery. And silence in the face of such hate is complicity. She whose words are sweeter than the nectar churned from ocean and render the beautiful clouds to shame (उवाच मधुरां वाणीं मेघगम्भीरनिस्वनाम् ~ Skanda Purāṇa 5.3.83.23) is insulted by slangs like “Bhaunkti” i.e. She who “Barks”.
Not equal to hair? Sorry?? She who is perpetually served by Indrāṇī, Ghṛtācī, Svāhā, Śāradā and Śrī, She whom Munipatnīs follow, She who is served by Mātṛkāmaṇḍala (इन्द्रादिलोक पालानामंगनाभि र्निषेविता । वहन्तीभिः सुरस्त्रीभिर्वृता मुनिवधूयुता । ~Skanda Purāṇa 1.3.12.52) is said that she is not equal to Hair? She has Hari and Haripriyā as her servants (हरिस्तु दासोऽनुचरीन्दिरा ~Nārada Purāṇa 2.73.143).
And curse? My God. When even the “Śāpa” of Vāgdevī herself cannot even touch her slightly (सावित्री तु वराकी सा तस्याः शापस्तु कीदृशः ~ Padma Purāṇa 1.22.166), What to speak of others? And I don’t remember any case of Bala/Utsāha 's wives cursing Pārvatī.
And Brahmā being powerful than Umā, If that is the case that It's her own will Because She ALONE is Pūrṇabrahma (बोधयन्ती सुरान्सर्वान्ब्रह्मैवाहमिति स्फुटम् ॥~ Śiva Purāṇa 5.49.23)
And yet, very few speak up. People laugh it off, or stay silent. Why? Because it's masked as love for another goddess — in this case, Viṣṇupriyā Mahālakṣmī,
Worse, it weaponizes a misinterpretation of scripture. The Bāṇāsura episode is not a story of ego battles between them. Twisting it into a justification for humiliating Pārvatī shows not just ignorance, but a complete discernible hate for her. It was her will to Let Nārāyaṇa win the battle for she is the knower of mind of everyone (ततः सकलचित्तज्ञा गौरी तामाह भामिनीम्॥ ~ Viṣṇu Purāṇa 5.32.12)
This sentence is not just an insult.
It's an act of verbal violence.
It crosses every spiritual, moral, and cultural boundary that they claim to uphold.
To use a slur like “Randi” — a word meant to completely strip a woman of dignity — against Her who is worshipped as the very essence of Vedas (त्वं देवि वेदजननी प्रणवस्वरूपा गायत्र्यसि त्वमसि वै द्विजकामधेनुः ~ Skanda Purāṇa 4.1.49.61) is called such because few Nanhe Munhe concoctor of Purāṇas have stated She became Jāmbavati (Brahmavaivarta) and of Bhārati (Garuḍa) Whose authenticity is ZERO, and I mean it. She whose Lord is the most Handsome and of such countenance that brings crores of Kandarpas to bow their head out of Shame (कोटिकंदर्पसदृशं मनसाचिंतयत् ॥ ~Padma Purāṇa 5.116.99) She whose words are infallible (Vālimikī Rāmāyaṇa calls her Amōghavacanā) She whose vow is to sit only upon the Lap of her Lord (मम व्रतं द्विजश्रेष्ठ शंकरांकैकरोहणम् ~ ~Padma Purāṇa 5.112.130), She, SUPERIOR TO HER NO PATIVRATĀ EXISTS न साध्वी पार्वतीपरा (Brahmavaivarta Purāṇa 1.11.17), प्रत्युवाच महासाध्वी स्वोपकण्ठस्थितं विभुम् ~ Śiva Purāṇa 2.3.29.4 There is no defense for this. No justification. No explanation that can soften its brutality.
And yet, where is the outrage?
Where are the posts? The threads? The protests?
The same people who rise in anger when their own deity is slighted — go silent when Pārvatī is abused.
Even worse, some join in.
Bro is just frustatated Because only Umā is called Slayer of ALL Asuras (कोटिभूतपरीवारां सर्वदैत्यनिबर्हिणीम् ॥~ Skanda Purāṇa 7.1.119.2), It’s she Only served by Both Asuras and Suras alike. Lmfa🤣
Across forums, comments, YouTube videos, and WhatsApp groups, there is a recurring pattern:
They mock her.
They say she "barks."
They say she is “Hair”.
They say she is “Ran**i”
And now, in their most vile form, they speak of her with filthy language — as if she’s not divine at all, but some ordinary woman they can drag through the mud.
These are not isolated slips of the tongue or misunderstood jokes — they are deliberate, grotesque attacks using filthy, misogynistic language aimed at humiliating and degrading her. Such words have no place anywhere — especially not in the sacred space of religious discourse or public forums where devotees gather.
And the most shameful part?
No one wants to talk about it.
Not Post Maker Pracanda Vidvanas.
Not temples.
Not religious teachers.
Not even many of Pārvatī’s own devotees.
Why?
Because it’s “too controversial.”
Because it's “regionally sensitive.”
Because it might upset “Selective Bhaktas.”
Because people don’t want to “create division.”
But the division already exists. It exists in the hatred being hurled at Pārvatī every single day, while we look away and call it “just words.”
Yet, in recent times, a troubling attitude has emerged in some circles: an attempt to question or even deny Pārvatī’s rightful place within Sāktism.
Some voices, motivated by sectarian pride or misguided rivalry, claim that Pārvatī is somehow less important, or “not really” part of the core Sākta tradition.
Despite the Fact that Haimvatī Umā is the Īśvarī of Śāktamatam सा च माया परा शक्तिः शक्तिमत्यहमीश्वरी ~ Dēvī Bhāgavata Purāṇa 12.8.47 She declares that She is Svāminī of Śāktadharma And Regarding Kulas? Don’t even get me on, Uttaratantra calls her as Svāminī of Śrīkula and It's also quoted by Śrī Rāmatoṣaṇācārya in his Prāṇatōṣiṇī.
ŪrdhvāmnāyaTantra calls her as the Mistress of Kauladharma. Not once Not Twice But FREAKING 11 TIMES. She is called Kulanāyikā.
But Again,
Isn’t she called नारायणी विष्णुमाया पूर्णब्रह्मस्वरूपिणी ~ Dēvī Bhāgavata Purāṇa9.1.14
And Guess what What’s worse???
When Huṇḍa harassed "Sindhukanyā", It was this "Hair Like" Goddess who destroyed the Asura with her mere Huṅkāra within same Padma Purāṇa, And Viṣṇu is called "Śaṅkaravāhana" which literally translates to "He who is Vāhana of Śiva" reconciling with Liṅga, Brahmavaivarta Purāṇas. This person even created fake verses just to prove that Umā is somehow lower.
And And Defeat?? प्रोक्ता पराजिता वीर्याद्दुर्गा दुर्ग्रहरूपतः ~Yoga Vaśiṣṭha7.84.11. She is Aparājitā, Never ever faced defeat. And Kōṭi?? The Grand Saubhāgya/Wealth of Lakṣmī is granted by mere fraction of hers, She gave Saundarya to Sāvitrī लक्ष्म्या अपि च सौभाग्यं ब्रह्माण्यै कांतिरुत्तमा । शच्यै नित्यनवीनत्वं भवत्या दत्तमीश्वरि ॥ ~ Skanda Purāṇa 4.2.38.35
Also, She is called “Half Dead”
अर्धमृत???? She who is verily the Personification of Death?? सर्वाव्याप्य मृत्युरिवस्थिता ~Skanda Purāṇa 5.3.14.49?? And it’s not just strangers or outsiders. Much of this hate festers within the very communities that claim to uphold dharma — often from factions devoted to others. Rather than stand united in reverence for the Divine Feminine, these groups engage in poisonous comparisons and openly toxic rhetoric that reduce Pārvatī to a subject of shame and mockery.
Bro thinks there is competetion between Umā and Śāradā (Prolly this is why he created fake verses stating some Mahāmantrarājñī to be Mahiṣāsuramardinī and was brutually refuted by Some Quoran here) He claims to be Sarasvatī Bhakta but Nigga doesn't even know basic Vyākaraṇa and forges vulgarily fake verses. And the irony is Bro Lectures others of Samskrta. 🤣
And Guess what?? Now Durgā and Pārvatī are TWO DISTINCT Identities.
Ādyāśakti says that She alone manifests as Gaurī who is Prēmapradhanā and Durgā who is Śaktipradhānā form of hers. This is why Durgā and Gaurī are Literally One. Śaktigīta says that Gaurī and Durgā are Bhedavarjitā (Not to be distinguished) forms of Same Mahāmāyā.
What is far worse than these hateful words is the deafening silence that follows. When other gods are insulted, their followers rise in outrage, organize e campaigns, file complaints. But when Pārvatī is insulted with such obscenity, the world looks away. This silence is complicity. This indifference is betrayal.
We choose Umā. We honor Umā. And we will continue to celebrate her. If that means standing apart, so be it. Because for us, there is no greater joy than to seek refuge at Lotus Feet of Umā. Accepted that She’s Dāsī and Aṁśa, So now, Please Spare Her🙏🏻🙏🏻
क्षमाप्रार्थी हूँ, यदि कुछ ज्यादा कह दिया हो तो।🙏🏻
The most effective way to diminish the influence of those who oppose and slander Bhagavati is to consistently bring such detractors into the light and critically examine their claims using clear scriptural evidence. Only through the continual exposure of the hostility and rebuttal of the baseless accusations these individuals direct toward Uma can we begin to address and counter the spread of such unwarranted hatred.
