Śrī Kamalā Mahāvidyā

Kamalāmba is the presiding goddess of this Śaktipīṭha. She sits in a yoga pose with Gaṅgā and crescent moon in her head similar to the lord Śiva. She is the tantric focus of spiritual power. Her shrine faces north, the direction of kailāśa, symbolizing release from the cycle of birth and death. Devī Kamalā amman is located in Thyagaraja Temple is a Śiva temple, located in the town of Thiruvarur in Tamil Nadu.

Devī Bhāgavata Mahā Purāṇa, Skanda Purāṇa Revā Khaṇda, mentioned this Śaktipīṭha as Kamalālaye Kamalā .
Garbha Kulārṇava Tantra said that Satī's Vulva's part ( not whole) was fallen here. It quoted "कमला योनिखण्डञ्च".

Toḍala Tantra says that her Consort is "Viṣnu Rūpam Sadāśivam" . It means Sadāśiva ( who takes Viṣnu Tattva into his body ) is her consort.
Śiva Purāṇa Śata Rudra Samhitā's 17th chapter told that Kamaleśvara is her husband.Brhat Śrīkrama Tantra quoted in Kamalā 100 names.
शचीन्द्राणी शक्रनुता शङ्करप्रियवल्लभा । महावराहजननी मदनोन्मथिनी मही ॥

She is Mahāvidyā, she herself is Parabrahma . She is Tripurā. Kamalāmbikā Stotra by Bhrgu quoted, "श्रीकामेश्वरपीठमध्यनिलयां श्रीराजराजेश्वरीं श्रीवाणीपरिसेविताङ्गियुगलां श्रीमत्कृपासागराम् । शोकापद्भयमोचिनीं सुकवितानन्दैकसन्दायिनीं वन्देऽहं कमलाम्बिकामनुदिनं वाञ्छानुकूलां शिवाम् ॥"

Devī Purāṇa's Kamalā Stotra said that she is the mother of 3 Devas. ब्रह्मेशविष्णुजननी ब्रह्माख्या ब्रह्मसंश्रया । व्यक्ताव्यक्त च देवेशि प्रसन्ना भव सुन्दरि ॥

Kamalā has various iconographies. Some of them are described.
1) She is 4 handed, holding 2 lotuses and Vara Abhaya Mudrās . Her skin colour is golden .

2) She is two handed . On the right hand, she is holding lotus. She kept her left hand on her thigh.

3) She is 4 handed holding Chakra, Padma, Vara and Abhaya. This iconography is similar to Mahādevī of Mahānirvana Tantra. That tantra quoted that Mahādevī is the presiding goddess of Gaurīpatta .
ईशानकोणे कमलालयस्य श्रीत्यागराजस्य तु वायुकोणे ।
ईशानदृष्टिः कमलाम्बिकाख्या या भाति सा श्रीरमृता सतां हि ॥

करे विराजत्कमनीयपङ्कजां
स्ववामजानूर्ध्वगतान्यजानुम् ।
योगासनस्थां कमलालयस्थां भजे सदा श्रीकमलाम्बिके त्वाम् ॥

कमलतटनिवासां कामितार्थप्रदात्रीं
समलमतिसुदूरां सामगानप्रियां ताम् ।
शमलगिरिसुवज्रां श्यामलादिप्रपूज्यां विमलहृदयवासां व्योमरूपां भजेऽहम् ॥
