Śrī Kamalā Mahāvidyā

Place:- Kamalalaya / Thiruvarur, Tamilnadu
Body part:- Vulva's part
Consort:- Kamaleshvara 


Kamalāmba is the presiding goddess of this Śaktipīṭha. She sits in a yoga pose with Gaṅgā and crescent moon in her head similar to the lord Śiva. She is the tantric focus of spiritual power. Her shrine faces north, the direction of kailāśa, symbolizing release from the cycle of birth and death. Devī Kamalā amman is located in Thyagaraja Temple is a Śiva temple, located in the town of Thiruvarur in Tamil Nadu.

Devī Bhāgavata Mahā Purāṇa, Skanda Purāṇa Revā Khaṇda, mentioned this Śaktipīṭha as Kamalālaye Kamalā .
Garbha Kulārṇava Tantra said that Satī's Vulva's part ( not whole) was fallen here. It quoted "कमला योनिखण्डञ्च".

Toḍala Tantra says that her Consort is "Viṣnu Rūpam Sadāśivam" . It means Sadāśiva ( who takes Viṣnu Tattva into his body ) is her consort.
Śiva Purāṇa Śata Rudra Samhitā's 17th chapter told that Kamaleśvara is her husband.Brhat Śrīkrama Tantra quoted in Kamalā 100 names.
शचीन्द्राणी शक्रनुता शङ्करप्रियवल्लभा । महावराहजननी मदनोन्मथिनी मही ॥

She is Mahāvidyā, she herself is Parabrahma . She is Tripurā. Kamalāmbikā Stotra by Bhrgu quoted, "श्रीकामेश्वरपीठमध्यनिलयां श्रीराजराजेश्वरीं श्रीवाणीपरिसेविताङ्गियुगलां श्रीमत्कृपासागराम् । शोकापद्भयमोचिनीं सुकवितानन्दैकसन्दायिनीं वन्देऽहं कमलाम्बिकामनुदिनं वाञ्छानुकूलां शिवाम् ॥"

Devī Purāṇa's Kamalā Stotra said that she is the mother of 3 Devas. ब्रह्मेशविष्णुजननी ब्रह्माख्या ब्रह्मसंश्रया । व्यक्ताव्यक्त च देवेशि प्रसन्ना भव सुन्दरि ॥

Kamalā has various iconographies. Some of them are described.
1) She is 4 handed, holding 2 lotuses and Vara Abhaya Mudrās . Her skin colour is golden .

2) She is two handed . On the right hand, she is holding lotus. She kept her left hand on her thigh.

3) She is 4 handed holding Chakra, Padma, Vara and Abhaya. This iconography is similar to Mahādevī of Mahānirvana Tantra. That tantra quoted that Mahādevī is the presiding goddess of Gaurīpatta .
ईशानकोणे कमलालयस्य श्रीत्यागराजस्य तु वायुकोणे ।
ईशानदृष्टिः कमलाम्बिकाख्या या भाति सा श्रीरमृता सतां हि ॥

करे विराजत्कमनीयपङ्कजां
स्ववामजानूर्ध्वगतान्यजानुम् ।
योगासनस्थां कमलालयस्थां भजे सदा श्रीकमलाम्बिके त्वाम् ॥

कमलतटनिवासां कामितार्थप्रदात्रीं
समलमतिसुदूरां सामगानप्रियां ताम् ।
शमलगिरिसुवज्रां श्यामलादिप्रपूज्यां विमलहृदयवासां व्योमरूपां भजेऽहम् ॥

Oḍiyāna Mahāpīṭha   4 Ādi Śaktipīṭhas  Introduction:-  According to many Śākta Texts, 4 places are considered to be the origins of Śaktism. They are called as "Caturādiśaktipīṭha" . They are the main scared seats where Kula, Krama and kaula systems, Āgamas were arised. Kubjikāmata Tantra, Jayadratha Yāmala Tantra, Umā Yāmala Tantra, Manthan Bhairava Tantra, Ambāmata Saṃhitā, Āmnāya Mañjarī etc many ancient Śākta Āgamas mentioned and described these Pīṭhas. These seats are also mentioned in the lists of the Pīṭhas of Mahāpurāṇas and Upapurāṇas (Brahmāṇḍa, Brahmavaivarta, Devībhāgavata, Kālikā, Skanda, Padma etc).   Durgā Krama : A Short Description   द्विसप्तकोटिमन्त्राणां शक्तिरूपे सनातनि । सर्वशक्तिस्वरूपे च जगद्धात्रि नमोऽस्तु ते ॥ Introduction :— Kula or Krama System is a part of the basement of Śaktism. Krama or Kula is a system where a particular form of Ādi Parāśakti with her consort Śiva (in Trika Philosophy, he is Paramaśiva) , Āvaraṇa Devatās (The deities who live in the Circular group around Devī), Parivāra Devatās (family deities) are worshipped. The Krama system was created from Kramanātha (Sadāśiva) and Kramāmbā (Pārvatī). There are around 64 Kramas in Śaktism (listed by Ācārya Abhinav gupta, Ācārya Vandanā ji and many Kaula Sādhakas). Who is the main deity of Durga Kula? Is it Ashtabhuja Durgambika or Chaturbhuja Jagadhatri?

Who is the main deity of Durga Kula? Is it Ashtabhuja Durgambika or Chaturbhuja Jagadhatri? Answer:-  There is actually no such term "Durgāmbikā". Now-a-days people are addressing Śerāvālī Mātā (शेरावाली माता) or Mātārāṇī (माताराणी) as Aṣṭabhūjā Durgā (अष्टभूजा दुर्गा),  Parāmbikā Durgā (पराम्बिका दुर्गा) Bhavānī Durgā (भवानी दुर्गा) or Durgāmbikā (दुर्गाम्बिका).  [[ Sherawali - शेरावाली]]  But there's no such term in the Śāstras indicating the specific iconography of Śerāvālī or Sherawali . The Rudra Saṃhitā of Śiva Mahāpurāṇa didn't mention even "Durgāmbikā" term. It addressed Sadāśiva's wife as only Ambikā. But the Dakṣiṇāmūrti Saṃhitā described a Dhyāna of Durgāmbikā.
